£3m signalling work will improve services

24/08/2020 @ 10:09
Signalling along the Cambrian Railway through Newtown and Caersws is to be upgraded and modernised as part of a £3 million investment announced by the UK government.

The work, due to start this year, will speed up services and reliability using digital technology.

It will also allow the introduction of the new fleet of trains due to be introduced on the line from December 2022.

The 241km line between Shrewsbury, Aberysywyth and Pwllheli will be upgraded.

The investment is part of a £343 million injection of cash announced for upgrade work across Wales, including an upgrade to Cardiff Central Station.
