The 75th anniversary of VJ Day and the final end of the Second World War was marked at 11am in Newtown with a ceremony at the Cenotaph.
Local veterans, dignitaries, politicians and others joined together for the service. A two minute silence was also marked.
Montgomeryshire's Member of the Senedd, Russell George said: "I was pleased to attend the 75th anniversary of VJ Day as a short service was held at the Cenotaph. It’s important to commemorate the day World War Two ended with Japan's surrender. Let us never forget all those who made sacrifices for the cause of peace."
