Uncertainty over A-level results

13/08/2020 @ 11:38

A-level and BTEC students in Newtown are today finding out their results, but there is uncertainty as to how coronavirus and the the marking process will affect many of them.

In England, A-level and GCSE students will allowed to appeal against marks that are lower than their mock results.

Powys County Council has said it is pleased with the results throughout the county but will be offering support to those who believe their marks are disappointing.

Councillor Phyl Davies said “This has been a very challenging and unsettling year for all of our learners across Wales, and as a local authority we think especially today of those who have received their results for A levels, BTEC and other courses, and are delighted to hear the stories of success from around Powys.”

“While we warmly  congratulate those who are delighted with what they have achieved, we will also be supporting schools as they support those who might be disappointed, especially in those situations where they believe that the impact of the pandemic has affected their outcomes. We are in touch with each of our schools to ensure that we have a coordinated means of supporting them.”
