Switch a red light on for live events professionals

A Newtown man is urging residents and businesses to show support for those who work in the live events industry in the area by switching on red lights on Tuesday.

Dafydd Evans said the #Wemakeevents campaign was raising awareness of the people working in the live events supply chain, such as audio visual technicians, sound engineers, event planners, transportation and others.

On Tuesday (11 August), the campaign is running a day of action that will culminate in buildings being illuminated in red to raise the plight of those, many of whom are freelancers, who have not had work since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Mr Evans said he hadn't managed to get any local events companies to take part in the short notice, but hope people would show support by switching on a red light.

He said he would be attending an event planned in Birmingham as a result.
