Easing of lockdown begins

Roads will be busier from today and local businesses and tourism operators will be hoping for increased trade as the Welsh Government's five-mile restriction on travelling comes to an end today.

Retailers in Newtown and local villages will be hoping more people travel into the area to do their shopping, while tourists from across the border in England are expected to head into and through the area for holidays.

Next week pubs in the town will be able to open their beer gardens and outdoor areas.

Two households can also now meet indoors and stay overnight in a property under the new regulations.

The Welsh Government has urged people to maintain distances of two metres of each other where possible.
