Newtown Town Council held its first full meeting since the coronavirus lockdown thanks to new laws that made it possible to meet "virtually."
Town councillors met via an online video platform to hold their first meeting since March.
Town Clerk, Ed Humphreys, said: "Whilst the council was able to make temporary arrangements for maintaining essential business by delegating to officers it is now able, through remote meetings, to place decision making back with the town's elected representatives.
"However, it's more than merely about the dealing with present, it's also about preparing for the future post-Covid, the consequences of it, and new ways of working which might become the norm."
He added: "The town council has worked hard to ensure meetings will remain accessible to the public while remaining professional and accurate.
"Meetings will continue to be held on the arranged scheduled dates which can be found on our website (www.newtown.org.uk) or on the public notice board outside the offices on Broad Street. The associated links and phone numbers can be found at the top of the agenda for each meeting."
Newtown Mayor, Cllr David Selby, said: "I was delighted to be part of the first ever remote meeting of Newtown Town Council last night.
"Everyone in the town is having to adapt to new ways of communication, work, travel and shopping so it is right that the town council has also changed its way of working.
"Our staff team are working from home, and now Councillors are meeting online.
"There is much that needs discussing about the town and our Council Committees will be meeting during the next month to discuss and plan for the future."
