Councillor calls for reverse in school meal charges

A Newtown county councillor has called for school meal charges to be reversed to last year's cost.

Cllr David Selby joined fellow Liberal Democrat and Green Group Powys county councillors in changing the charges after they were put up last year.

“The increase has been a complete failure. Fewer children had school meals and the income to the school meal service went down. The increase should be scrapped before children return to school for the new school year," he said.
 
The group has called for a reversal of the 15p school meals rise introduced in Powys County Council’s 2019/20 Budget after it was revealed in the Council’s end-of-year outturn that revenue fell when the price went up.
