Handful of staff left to sort stock at Laura Ashley

Fifty more staff have been made redundant at Laura Ashley in Newtown.

It comes after a large number of staff were handed their notices last month as administrators attempt to find a buyer for the company.

It is understood the remaining staff will be made redundant in July once stock is sold online and through a number of Laura Ashley retail shops that have opened in England as part of lockdown regulations.

MyNewtown reported last month how the chief executive of the company was attempting to raise money to buy it and to continue operations in Newtown.

However, it is understood efforts have so far failed to attract backers.

Staff at Texplan, the warehouse and call centre are affected, along with other areas such as payroll and accounts in the town.
