Knitting group raises cash for local charities

Members of Newtown's Knit and Natter group have thanked a local business that has helped them sell items they knitted for charity.

The group spent months knitting items for its Easter Charity Stall which had to be cancelled due to Coronavirus.

"Stepping to the rescue was Alison and Jonathan Higgins from Bettws Cedewain Village Stores who, along with selling delicious home made cakes and delivering essential supplies to those in lockdown, offered to sell our items in their shop," said Paula Roberts of the group.

"A huge thank you to Alison and Jonathan from Knit and Natter, Newtown for their kindness.

"We have collected a cheque for £145 for the sale of the those items. Alison also took more knitted stock along with new colourful hand made face coverings made by Lorraine Sharp, with all monies will go to charity."

Knit and Natter is a group that met weekly to chat and knit.

They are now holding virtual meetings online.
