Diesel or oil spill reported again in the River Severn

An oil spill has been reported in the River Severn close to Newtown town centre again.

It comes just weeks after another trail of what people said smelt like diesel was spotted on the river over a period of a week last month.

Today, walkers at Longbridge and Dolores Park bridge said they could see a similar slick.

Reader Vic Butt messaged MyNewtown and said: It looks like it is coming from the small street that runs beside the Scout Hut. Very sad to see the river in such a state with so many baby birds and fish about at the moment."

She said they had reported it to Natural Resources Wales who were sending someone to investigate.

Last month dozens of people reported a strong smell and an oil slick j the river at the same spot, with many believing it was coming from the waterway leading from the Dolfor culvert.
