Leisure centre staff prepare for "safe" opening

Maldwyn Leisure Centre is preparing to re-open once the Welsh Government gives the green light - and it could be in July.

In a statement from its operators, Freedom Leisure, the centre said it was making plans that would allow its safe open to the public and facility members.

The company operates centres in Wales and England and so while it has stated July, which could happen in England, it might be later in Powys.

"We are getting ready to welcome you back … we have missed you! We are really looking forward to reopening many of our centres in the near future and to welcoming you back through our doors.

"However, things will be different to how they were before we closed on 20th March. We have been working hard to plan how we can reopen safely and provide you, our valued customers, with the reassurance we know you need to come back.

Your local leisure centre sits right at the heart of your community and that will not change.

"We really hope that some of our centres will be open from early July, but this will be wholly dependent on government advice. This date will be different in Wales and will reflect Welsh Government guidance.
