Another big event organiser is refusing to be wiped out by Covid-19, and is taking some of it activities online this weekend.

Hot on the heels of Llanfair Caereinion Carnival saying it would be holding some events through social media, the Monty Lit Fest has confirmed that it will go ahead this weekend in a limited capacity online.

“We’re not going to stop a little thing like a pandemic get in the way of celebrating what would have been our Festival weekend this year,” the event has announced online.
Instead, this weekend the event will be running online sessions, talking and thinking about how books can continue to enliven lockdown.

On Friday, the event will celebrate the launch of local author Myfanwy Alexander‘s latest Daf Davies adventure, Burning Issue. There will be readings, a quiz and the chance to hear from the author herself. This session will run from 8-9.30pm.

On Saturday, four writers are participating in the 2021 edition will create a Top 10 #Montylockdownreads list.

“We’ll be asking Steve Doherty, Julia Forster, Alix Nathan and Mike Parker what they’ve been reading during lockdown,” said a spokesperson. “Books they’d recommend for a pandemic and what they’re most looking forward to – book-wise – once we’re back to our new normal.

“Come ready to share your own lockdown book recommendations; they might make it to our Top 10!”

That session will run from 7.30pm–9pm.

The sessions are free but you will need to register here where you will be sent a link and password to join in.
