Llanfair's carnival might have been cancelled, but organisers say the "show must go on-line."

The carnival will now take place on Facebook with a range of competitions and events.

"Llanfair Caereinion Carnival Committee could not have imagined our current circumstances when they set the 2020 Carnival Theme as “Llanfair Imagines," said Kait Duerden, Carnival Secretary.

"The carnival was due to take place on the 20 June and, of course, has had to be cancelled for this year along with so many other events we were all looking forward to.

Nikki Peate, Chair of the committee, said: “We have agreed that the show must go on. So we will be holding some events online.”

The Llanfair Carnival Facebook Page has invited people to stay at home, observe all the current coronavirus guidelines but to imagine their own carnival.

There are competitions online for the Carnival Queen, for Fancy Dress and for the best imagined Carnival Float.

"For this year only, there is also a competition for Carnival King. We are inviting people of any age to enter all the competitions. So if you are 9 months, 9 years old or over 90, you can be this years’ Carnival Queen or King."

"We invite everyone who loves the Carnival to take part; to dress up; draw or make a float; take a picture and then post it to our Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/pg/llanfaircaereinioncarnival/posts ."
