Stay home - but keep an eye on the elderly and vulnerable

24/03/2020 @ 10:02

Newtown residents are waking up to what is virtually a lockdown as part of the government's plan to reduce social contact and stop the spread of COVID-19.

People should only go out shopping for essential goods, to exercise once a day, check on elderly or vulnerable family, and to go to work unless you can work from home.

Today, traffic was still busy with many workers heading to local business parks and offices, although the streets are quieter as many abide by the request to stay at home.

The Welsh Government is also urging people to act responsibly. It comes after the area's countryside and tourist attractions were descended upon bu visitors at the weekend and those with caravans and second homes in the area.

Residents and businesses affected are being urged to check https://gov.wales/coronavirus for updates and ways they can get help in these unsual times.
