Surgery will not accept walk-in patients - call first

17/03/2020 @ 11:03
Newtown Medical Practice is urging people to telephone the surgery before visiting it.

The Practice has issued a statement in its attempt to stop the spread of Coronavirus and to also take pressure off medical staff who are dealing with serious medical cases.

It is cancelling non essential appointments and anyone wanting a prescription is asked to go to a pharmacy, but not the one at the surgery.

"We understand the telephone lines can get very busy and this means you may be holding on longer, but please accept our apologies on this and please be patient with us."

The statement said:

Urgent Appointments
This will still be dealt with in the same way via clinical triage on the day.

Routine Appointments
Reception are currently trying to contact as many patients as possible to change your routine appointments to telephone appointment. If the clinician feels you need to be seen they will make you the face to face appointment. Please call the surgery before attending.

Our check in screen has now been switched off and ask you come to the appointment desk. No one is to enter the practice without informing reception.

Prescriptions / paperwork/ Samples
We have an outside letterbox for samples and prescription / paperwork. This will be emptied on a regular basis.
Collecting Medication

Please call ahead to check the medication is ready. Unfortunately, we are a little bit behind and to save you waiting we ask that you call ahead, and we can sort out a time for you to collect from the appointment desk.

Chemist Scripts
If you deal with a chemist please call them first and they will liaise with the surgery regarding your medication. Please do not attend the surgery.
