No case of COVID-19 in Churchstoke, says doctor

A Montgomery doctor on the local Coronavirus frontline says that comments he posted on social media yesterday afternoon warning of its dangers have been misinterpreted and there is no case in Churchstoke.

Dr Simon Currin said that COVID-19 Government advice should be followed and in his post he referenced that it was “now present in our local community,” after the case reported in the Llanidloes area on Friday.

A report by another media outlet yesterday stated a case was confirmed in Churchstoke, but Dr Currin said it was not true and urged people not to panic but to take all precautionary measures advised to prevent the rapid spread of the virus.

In his Facebook post earlier, Dr Currin outlined the stringent measures being taken at Montgomery Medical Practice to combat any possible spread, including a total phone triage which means that only those that have spoken to a clinician first will be able to come to the surgery.
