Local council care homes not locked down yet

Local care homes are not in an enforced lockdown, but some are believed to be restricting non-essential access.

A spokesperson told our sister site MyWelshpool this morning that while the situation could change in the coming hours and days, at the moment no care services have been forcibly changed by the regional authority, due to the fears over Coronavirus.

“The service is busy in preparation to ensure it can maintain critical services over the next few months,” said the spokesperson.

“The corporate director for Children & Adult services is working closely with the Powys Teaching Health Board to ensure this is coordinated as a system.
“We are working closely with our provider market and guidance has been issued to all providers from Welsh government.

“We are aware that some homes in Powys may be restricting non-essential access. We have not at this stage made a formal decision to stop any of our services but I am aware that this is constantly under review by the leadership team.

“This consideration is twofold as it relates to capacity to provide critical services as well as any infection control considerations.”
