A Coronavirus case has been confirmed in the area

A Coronavirus (COVID-19) case has been confirmed in the area.

A person in the Llanidloes area has been confirmed as carrying the virus.

Llanidloes Medical Practice has closed to only urgent cases. Its surgery in Caersws is also closed as normal on a Friday.

In a statement, the Arwystli Group Medical Practice in Llanidloes said: "Due to a confirmed Covid-19 case in the practice area we (Llanidloes Medical Practice) will only be seeing urgent cases today.

"If you feel it is urgent for today please contact the surgery and we will organise a call back on the triage list.

"If you are having any flu like symptoms then please self-isolate for seven days.

"Llys Meddyg Surgery (Caersws) will be closed all day today as originally planned."

It is the third case in Powys, with two others understood to have been in the south of the county.

Yesterday, Montgomery Medical Practice closed to patients, only taking enquiries through the front door.

A number of meetings planned in the area have been cancelled along with football matches and other sports events.
