Drop-in session for parents and carers of SEN children

09/03/2020 @ 09:42
A drop-in session is to be held in Newtown for carers and parents of children with Special Educational Needs.

It will form part of a series of such events giving parents and carers of children with special educational needs (SEN) and additional learning needs (ALN) the opportunity to meet SEN/ALN staff.

Powys County Council has organised four drop-in surgeries over the coming months.

The drop-in session will take place at Newtown Football Club on Tuesday, 22 May between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Cllr Phyl Davies, Cabinet Member for Education, said: “These surgeries are a way for parents and families to meet with a member of our SEN / ALN Team each term.

"We hope they will provide a network for parents, facilitating peer-to-peer support and provide assistance for parents through advice, support and coaching where appropriate.

“The surgeries will also allow for common themes arising from schools and families to be triangulated in order to support ongoing early help.”
