Llanidloes ultra-cyclist to talk at careers fair

25/02/2020 @ 10:32
Llanidloes ultra-cyclist and writer Emily Chappell will be one of the guest speakers at this year’s Powys Careers Festival.

A former pupil of Llanidloes High School, Emily – who recently published her second book ‘Where there’s a will’ – was the fastest woman to cycle across Europe in the 2016 Transcontinental Race and has also cycled to Japan from Wales.

She will be talking to Powys cyclist Tim Davies – who has represented Wales in the Commonwealth Games – about how she forged a career as a writer and cyclist, including a spell working as a cycle courier in London.

This was the subject of her first book ‘What Goes Around’.

The fourth Powys Careers Festival is taking place at the Royal Welsh Showground at Llanelwedd on Wednesday, 4 March and will feature more than 100 exhibitors showcasing the opportunities available to young people in Powys.

Students from high schools, special schools and further education campuses in Powys will travel to the festival, which in previous years has seen more than 3,000 students.

This year’s festival is being sponsored by:

Hughes Architects
The NPTC Group of Colleges
Cambrian Training
Lanyon Bowdler Solicitors
Wipak
Open University
Abercare
Careers Wales
WestEnt audio visual
Powys County Council

The event is free to exhibitors and young people attending but it is not open to the general public, only to students.
