Newtown and the surrounding area remains on high alert following the weekend's Storm Dennis which has caused large-scale flooding in the area.

The emergency services are warning motorists to beware as flooding is likely to get worse in some areas as water continues to flow from the hills.

Unprecedented flooding has been seen in the Severn Valley with water levels rising to record levels.

Many homes in the area have been affected that have not been flooded previously. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has been busy helping those affected.

The main A483 between Newtown and Welshpool is open again today after being closed for most of yesterday due to flooding.

The X75 bus service is now operational to Shrewsbury, according to operator Celtic Travel.

While rain fall has reduced, National Resources Wales and other agencies have warned that the River Severn will continue to rise due to the amount of water flowing from the hills in the upper Severn Valley area.
