The work of the Royal Welsh Regiment and its operations in Mid Wales have been discussed with Montgomeryshire MP Craig Williams.

Mr Williams met a number of officers and soldiers from the Royal Welsh Regiment at a reception the House of Commons.

He spoke with the Army in Wales, Brigadier Alan Richmond OBE (pictured right), who described the Regiment's operations in Mid Wales.

He also met with Captain Samuel Johns, 1st Battalion of the Royal Welsh (pictured left). Captain Johns was born and raised in Llanfair Caereinion and went on to Sandhurst Military Academy where he has been deployed to various locations across the world such as Belize, Brunei, South Africa and Estonia. He will soon be deployed to Ukraine.

Mr Williams said: “It is great that Welsh regiments are receiving huge amounts of support from the Ministry of Defence, and that Montgomeryshire residents go on to have highly successful careers in the army. I wish Captain Johns well for his upcoming deployment and look forward to meeting with him again when he returns.”

Mr Williams said he will be doing all that he can to support the armed forces and will also be pressing that the Government commit to support serving and ex service personnel as fully as possible.
