Crowds expected for Newtown Carnival

Crowds are expected to be out in force today (Saturday) for Newtown Carnival.

Organisers are hoping the rain holds off as the procession travels through the town's streets from 12.30pm, including the main town centre where most crowds normally run out to cheer on participants. Anyone wanting to to take part needs to be in Lower Canal Road by 11am as judging starts at 11.45am.

Meanwhile, from 10am the fun starts in the Town Hall grounds with music, stalls, entertainment and other activities for the whole family, carrying on until the evening.

Chloe Antoniazzi is the Carnival Queen for 2011. Fifteen-year-old Chloe will be joined by her attendants, Jessica Box, Anghaard Williams, Billie Jo Lloyd, Kathy Mitchell, Nicole Franklin, Flynn Binding and David Box.
