Countdown to town's carnival fun

It's carnival fun in Newtown tomorrow as the annual event prepares to kick-off with a host of events, activities and a procession.

The action starts at 10am in the Town Hall grounds with music, dance tourps, stands, stalls and lots more entertainment throughout the day. Judging of the procession takes place at 11.45am, but anyone wanting to take part should get to Lower Canal Road by 11.30am to make sure they're registered.

The procession will travel around the town, starting in Lower Canal Road at 12.30pm, led by Newtown Silver Band and including dance troups, walkers and floats.

Chloe Antoniazzi is the Carnbival Queen for 2011. Fifteen-year-old Chloe will be joined by her attendants, Jessica Box, Anghaard Williams, Billie Jo Lloyd, Kathy Mitchell, Nicole Franklin, Flynn Binding and David Box.

Activities will continue until the evening in the Town Hall grounds and organisers have urged the whole community to come out and support the event.
