Penygloddfa gets ‘good’ inspectors report

Penygloddfa CP School is “very well led and managed” with pupils attaining “good standards in the core subjects of English, mathematics and science” according to school inspectors.

 
In a report published by the school inspectorate, Estyn, inspectors gave the school a ‘good’ rating (one below the top ‘excellent’ rating).
 
The report states: “The school has an inclusive and happy ethos. Everyone is valued and treated equally and with respect, Pupils have equal opportunity to access all areas of the curriculum and participate in school activities.”
 
It adds: “Teaching throughout the school is good or very good. Staff have high expectations of pupils. Almost all lessons are well prepared and delivered ata good pace.”
 
Inspectors have recommended that the school continues to raise standards. Key recommendations include:
 
  • Continue to rasie standards and increase the number of pupils who achieve at higher levels at the end of each key stage;
  • Ensure consistency in pupils’ writing throughout the school; and
  • Ensure that the comprehensive range of self-evaluation activities focus more precisely on priorities for improvement.
 
The school will now produce an action plan that addresses the recommendations.
