Woman suffers head injuries in town centre accident

Police are investigating a collision between a car and a taxi in Newtown town centre in which a woman suffered serious head injuries.

The accident happened on New Year’s Eve at the traffic lights along New Road next to St David’s House and St David’s Church.

A Vauxhall Corsa and a Volkswagen Passat were involved in the collision at 10.30pm.

A police spokesperson said the woman was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

They have appealed for anyone who saw the accident to contact them on 101.
