Town centre car park to close

19/12/2019 @ 07:16
One of Newtown's town centre car parks will close next week as part of the redevelopment of offices.

The privately-owned Ladywell Shopping Centre car park will close on 28 December to become a car park for a local expanding business.

The Ladywell Shopping Centre was acquired by EvaBuild nearly two years ago and the former Co-Op store has been transformed into offices for Quartix, a vehicle tracking company.

The company is currently based at St David's House and will move into the renovated former shop that is now bespoke offices.

But it means the car park will no longer be available for public use from 5pm on 28 December.

Alternative public parking facilities are available nearby at the Gravel Lane and Back Lane car parks that are owned by Powys County Council.

EvaBuild’s director Nick Evans said: “By bringing Quartix’s Newtown workforce together under one roof, we hope to increase town centre footfall and kickstart regeneration in this part of Newtown.”
