Council to hold a 'meet the buyers' event in Newtown

13/11/2019 @ 09:23
Construction companies in Montgomeryshire wanting to promote their services and engage with Powys County Council and other local buyers are being encouraged to attend a 'meet the buyers' event in Newtown.

The council has come under fire in recent times over the 'Powys pound' and use of local businesses, or lack of it as some have claimed.

This was on top of several companies going into administration that were working on council schemes, such as the Bowling Green site in Newtown.

Following similar events in 2017 and 2018, Powys County Council is holding a construction orientated ‘meet the buyer events’ to expand and develop their supply chain.

The aim of the event is to identify and demonstrate what work is becoming available on projects across the county, giving contractors the opportunity to meet the right people and the potential to win work as a result. In addition, organisations who can help contractors prepare for tendering will be present to discuss how to achieve the tender requirements.

The event will take place on

·         Wednesday, 27 November 9.30am-12.30 and 1.30m-4pm. Plas Dolerw, Milford Road, Newtown, Powys, SY16 2EH.

Numerous departments from Powys County Council will be in attendance at the events, as will other buyers such as the Heart of Wales Property Services (HOWPS) and Mid & West Wales Fire Authority. Numerous support organisations including Business Wales, CITB, Constructionline, and others with also be present.

Pre-registration is required by 19th November 2019. Please contact Llinos Price on 07870 724 968 or email llinos@busnesa.com for further information or to book a place.
