Election choice narrow as Brexit Party pull out

11/11/2019 @ 04:46
The Brexit Party has pulled out of Montgomeryshire at the General Election next month.

Leader Nigel Farage announced this morning that the party will not contest the 317 seats won by the Conservatives in the last election in 2017.

He explained that he feared taking votes from the Tories would open the door for anti-Brexit parties like the Liberal Democrats, who are campaigning hard in Montgomeryshire, to win seats.

Although not officially announced, it means Oliver Lewis, a resident of Montgomery, will be pulling out.

Last week, Plaid Cymru candidate Elwyn Vaughan was a casualty of his party’s pact with the Lib Dems.

It leaves a three-way fight in Montgomeryshire on 12 December between the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Labour.
