Christine receives top Scout award

A Beaver leader from Newtown has been recognised to have gone above and beyond for Scouting in Wales at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Eight awards were up for grabs in this year’s Celebration of Scouting Awards with 61 volunteers and groups shortlisted.
Having been involved in Scouting for the past 27 years, Christine has been described as “a real team player who sums up Scouting and all it means.”
Judges commented: “Christine has been dedicated to the organisation for 27 years. Christine has always been there for her Scouting family and has never let them down, bringing out the best in everyone she meets.”
Chief Commissioner for Wales, Rhian Moore, said: “This year’s award nominations were of an exceptionally high standard. The work that is being carried out across Wales by our dedicated volunteers is truly inspiring.
“I would like to say a huge congratulations to all of this year’s winners, those who won Highly Commended and those who were nominated, you are all making an incredible difference to the lives of young people across Wales.”
ScoutsCymru is the national body for Scouting in Wales. Each week, 5,186 volunteers give 14,194 young people in Wales the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed, now and in the future.
