Closing date looms for council ward nomnations

Potential candidates for a Powys county councillor ward in Newtown have until next Friday to register their nominations.

The resignation of Cllr Neil Morrison who represented the Newtown South ward triggered the election.

Nominations have to be with Powys County Council at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells by 4pm on Friday, 27 September.

If there are sufficient candidates for an election a Poll will be held on Thursday, 24 October.

Councillor Morrison, who has represented Newtown South since May 2017, resigned from the council with immediate effect on 3 September. Neighbouring councillors will be able to assist constituents. Contacts details are:
