Mayor urges people to have their blood pressure checked

13/09/2019 @ 11:41
The Mayor of Newtown has been having his blood tested today - at Newtown Library.

It's part of a national "Know Your Numbers" campaign to get people to check their blood pressure.

Visitors to the library can have their blood pressure checked for free until 4pm today.

Cllr David Selby urged people to attend the event that is provided by the charity Blood Pressure UK.

He said: "Blood pressure is a very useful measure of health, and the test today will only take a few minutes. I would encourage anyone who can to pop in when you are in town and have the test, prevention is always better than cure."

Lizzie Cockle, Library Assistant, said: "We are involved in Blood Pressure UK's Know Your Numbers Week campaign to encourage every adult to know their blood pressure and take action to lower it."
