Sixth form partnership to be set up in Newtown

13/09/2019 @ 08:14

A partnership is being set up between NCTP Group's Newtown college campus and the town's high school to offer a broader range of subjects.

The Newtown Sixth Form Academy will provide traditional sixth form education with more subjects from the college, according to partnership.

It comes as Powys County Council said a review of sixth form education in the county would be undertaken as most sixth forms have just 100 students and the council believes 180 is the minimum needed.

"We want to offer the students in the Newtown area the very best opportunities through studying wide choices of A-level and vocational courses on their doorstep," said Rob Edwards, Headteacher at Newtown High School.

The partnership will be launched on 19 September at 7pm when students and potential students can find out more.
