Road surfacing and verge cutting cause delays

02/09/2019 @ 04:44

Motorists in Newtown and travelling to Welshpool have been hit by long delays with road resurfacing along Pool Road and verge cutting along the main A483 towards Welshpool.

The road surfacing outside the Powys County Council depot was causing delays of up to 15 minutes today with due to this week.

Delays are also hampering motorists and residents at the other end of town at Nantoer Bridge with work being undertaken there.

It comes as work on new gas mains in Dolfor Road saw the road re-open over the weekend after it was closed in July.

Road works will be continuing throughout the town over the coming months as utility companies undertake work that was postponed when the Newtown bypass was being constructed.

Powys County Council is also undertaking work to improve road and pedestrian routes in the town after the main road was de-trunked when the bypass opened.
