Textile museum to demonstrate weaving

06/08/2019 @ 09:56

Ever wondered how people working in the textile industry of Newtown used spin, weave and make fabric?

If so, Newtown Textile Museum has created an occasion for you.

Using the spinning wheels and looms that are permanently on display in the museum on Commercial Street, demonstrators will show how it is done and recreate some of the atmosphere of the factory as it would have been in the 19th century.

The demonstration day is Saturday, 17th August.

The museum will be open from 10.30am to 4pm. Entry is free but donations would be welcome.

The Museum is in the middle of a highly successful summer season with talks, demonstrations and a growing selection of gifts to purchase.

Above all visitors of all ages enjoy the introduction to life in the town in the 19th century and its textile industry.

The museum is open Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12 noon to 4pm and on Saturday from 10.30am to 4pm.
