Elwyn Vaughan to stand for Plaid at General Election

Powys County Councillor Elwyn Vaughan will stand for Plaid Cymru as Montgomeryshire candidate in the next General Election.

The Dyfi Valley County Councillor who is currently Leader of the Plaid Group on Powys County Council has been selected by members with speculation about an early General Election growing by the day.

Cllr Vaughan said: “It is a privilege to be selected as candidate for Montgomeryshire.

"As the keepers of the old radical Welsh liberal tradition of ‘Cymru Fydd’ we will be focussing on not only the environmental challenges, but the sustainability of our communities and ensuring a entrepreneurial spirit within Montgomeryshire.

"We will be a voice for rural Wales, one that understands rural communities and it’s challenges and putting those communities first. We want to create a commonality of minds in the area and I invite those from that old liberal tradition and others that want to have such an approach to join with me, to be innovative whilst putting our communities first.”
