Police are urging farmers in the area to make sure their property and vehicles are locked and secured before heading to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show next week.

With an increase in properties being left empty during show week, Dyfed-Powys Police has issued a security reminder to reduce the risk of thefts and burglaries from farms.

Superintendent Robyn Mason said: “The Royal Welsh is a highlight in many farmers’ calendars, and it is a very enjoyable week.

“We would hate for someone to return home and realise they have been a victim of theft or burglary during their time away.

“Our advice is simple, but important. Please lock your homes and vehicles when you leave, and take your keys with you. If you have CCTV cameras, make sure they are switched on.

“If you are not going to the show, but you know your neighbours are, please keep an eye on their property while they are away.

“If you see anything suspicious or untoward, ring 101. If you witness a crime taking place, call 999.”
