Late night train service to be trialled tonight

A late night train from Shrewsbury to Newtown will take place tonight (Saturday) - and it could become regular.

Transport for Wales will run an 11pm service from Shrewsbury. Normally, the last train to run along the Cambrian Railway is at 9.43pm.

The service is being run today as there's a Let's Rock concert at Shrewsbury's Quarry.

It has not been publicised on the National Rail Enquiries service timetable and the service is expected to be made up of a single coach.

Last month MyNewtown reported how TfW was understood to be considering running a later service due to the number of residents from Caersws, Newtown and Welshpool heading to Shrewsbury at weekends.

It is believed the service could introduced early in the new year.
