Train services from Newtown and Caersws to Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth have been cancelled today (Sunday) because of a signalling fault.
Transport for Wales has warned that bus services on the Cambrian Railway have been laid on but due to lack of coaches and the sheer number of passengers, these could be limited too.
Transport for Wales said it hoped normal services would resume at 4pm.
A statement said: “A fault with the signalling system between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth / Pwllheli means that trains are currently unable to run between these stations.
“Services between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth will also be cancelled. We anticipate disruption will continue until 4pm.
“A very limited bus service is running between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth, and also between Machynlleth and Pwllheli. These will be provided by Lloyds Coaches and TNS Coaches.”
