More than £2.8 million has been invested into the federation of schools created at Carno, Llanbrynmair and Glantwymyn schools, it has been revealed.

Last week, as reported by MyNewtown, a new school building was opened at Carno Primary School as part of an investment by Powys County Council with funding from the Welsh Government's 21st Century Schools Programme.

The project also received £500,000 from the Carno Recreation Association, with money donated from the Carno Windfarm Trust.

“Through working together and in partnership with Welsh Government, we have been able to provide the learner of Carno with the learning environment they deserve," said Cllr Myfanwy Alexander, Portfolio Holder for Education and Welsh Language at the county council.

“The school is part of a highly successful federation with Glantwymyn and Llanbrynmair, demonstrating the commitment of this Cabinet to find innovative educational solutions which ensure those who live in our rural areas are not left behind.”

The new school building was opened by Education Minister, Kirsty Williams AM.
