Weather will not dampen carnival atmosphere

The wet weather won't dampen celebrations at today's Newtown Carnival.

Organisers have already held events throughout the week in the lead up to the event and today the main procession will take place through the town centre followed by entertainment in the Town Hall grounds.

The carnival will include the float procession leaving Lower Canal Road at 12.30pm and touring the town centre before event kick off at the Town Hall Grounds where the crowning of the Carnival Queen and King will take place.

Music, events and entertainment are planned throughout the afternoon.
