A new wellbeing programme is to be launched in Newtown as part of a campaign to improve the lives of people in the area and as part of an investment in a new facility in the town.

Powys County Council and Powys Teaching Health Board are hosting two events on 14 June in Llanidloes and Newtown to officially launch the North Powys Wellbeing Programme.

"The North Powys Wellbeing Programme is a once in a generation opportunity to improve health and wellbeing across north Powys," said a health board spokesperson.

"Central to achieving this is the development of a state of the art new facility in Newtown connected to a number of community wellbeing hubs to offer more services locally and bring the latest technology and training to Mid Wales.

"These two events will be an opportunity to share your valuable insights and experiences of health and wellbeing services in north Powys today, and what services could look like in the future."

The launch will be two ‘drop in’ style events with an opportunity to have a conversation about ‘what matters’ most to the individual or their family with elected members and executives from both organisations.

There will also be a range of professionals on hand to capture people's thoughts.

The two events will be held on 14 June in the following venues:

Chatwood House, Longbridge Street, Llanidloes 10:30am – 1pm
Glanhafren Market Hall, Market Street, Newtown 2:30pm – 4:30pm.

Further to the two launch events, there will be a north Powys wide ‘big’ conversation with residents, staff and partner organisations to develop a new model of health and care across North Powys.

Further dates and venues will be publicised in June.
