A long-running project to restore and enhance parts of Tregynon’s historic St Cynon’s Church has been completed.
An event to celebrate the completion will be held on Sunday, 19 May.
The Tower Project has been many years in the planning with fundraising and grant applications undertaken.
After many years of planning, fundraising, grant applications and construction, St. Cynon’s Church in Tregynon are celebrating the opening of their Tower Project on Sunday May 19th.
"The vestry in the 18th century tower of the church has been divided into a toilet, a kitchen and a robing area for the clergy," said Suzanne Edwards of the church.
"Careful planning has had to be carried out to preserve the ancient structure of the tower, while providing facilities suitable for a modern church."
Archdeacon Barry Wilson will be the guest preacher at a service of thanksgiving at 2pm on the day, followed by refreshments prepared in the new kitchen.
All the contractors, grant providers and fundraisers involved in the work have been invited to join members of the church and community in the afternoon celebrations.
