Bulk recycling facility to be discussed by council

29/04/2019 @ 12:05

A new report is to be put before Powys county councillors on Friday as part of an update on the planned bulk recycling centre planned for Abermule.

The report, by Llanidloes councillor Phyl Davies, who is portfolio holder for highways, recycling and assets, is yet to be published. Such reports are normally published as part of the agenda for a full council meeting.

The council is planning to build the bulk recycling centre on land it acquired from the Weldh Government on the outskirts of Abermule. However, residents have campaigned against it and urged the council to consider "more appropriate" sites in north Powys.

The budget for the facility has already been moved into this financial year from last year's.

It is understood the report will update councillors on discussions with campaigners, any work to identify alternative sites and the timetable for the development of the Abermule site.

A business park is also planned for the Abermule site.
