Welcome to Newtown - visitors get a rubbish view of town

Visitors to Newtown over the Bank Holiday weekend have been welcomed by rubbish left strewn in one of the town car parks.

MyNewtown reader Philip Lewis sent us photographs of three separate areas of the Gravel car park, one of the main ones used by visitors to the town along the River Severn.

Litter could be seen overflowing in rubbish bins and left scattered around the area, including the picnic area.

"Why come to Newtown to see this mess," said Philip.

While the majority of the waste had come from overflowing bins, the rest appeared to have been dumped by motorists and others along the kerbside near to the picnic area.
