A local charity that works with people with disabilities and their families is urging residents to vote for it as part of a People's Lottery competition in which it could win £46,000.

Dal Dy Dir, which is based at Kerry, is one of several charities wanting to win £46,000 as part of the competition. Voting for the competition ends on 15 April.

The charity was highlighted on ITV Wales. Its project, Forest Foundations, plans to support young people with disabilities to develop a working farm and is one of five groups in the ITV Wales region competing for the prize.

Paul Martin of the charity said: "Competition is fierce so to be in with a chance of claiming the top prize we need as many votes as possible.

"Voting is open and closes on 15th April 2019   at www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk/projects/view/forest-foundations

"If successful, this funding will allow the charity to employ specialist support staff and purchase essential equipment to develop a rare breeds programme where young people can care for the animals in partnership with Harper Adams University."
