Three local groups have won a share of £618,879 of Big Lottery funding, it has been revealed.
The Ponthafren Association in Newtown, Caersws Recreation Association and Berriew Pre-School and Toddler Group have received the windfall, along with Llansilin Playing Fields Association.
Ponthafren Association will use their £498,921 grant to deliver the Ponthafren Empowering, Inspiring, Education project.
"It will build on learning from the current programme of counselling and one-to-one recovery by enhancing its new pathway approach," said a Big Lottery spokesperson.
"It will also establish a space in Llanidloes to deliver services. The project will support between 1,200 to 1,425 people with mental health issues; and 40 volunteers will gain confidence and skills, in the areas of Welshpool, Newtown and Llanidloes."
Caersws Recreation Association has been awarded £86,000 and will upgrade a dated playground with a range of modern and inclusive play equipment for a wide range of ages.
"The project will reduce isolation by increasing opportunities for socialisation and provide further opportunities for younger people," said the spokesperson.
Berriew Preschool and Toddler Group in Welshpool will run an intergenerational project with the children and a group of residents at a local care home.
£2,070 will fund minibus costs, IT equipment, musical instruments, balloons and bubbles and refreshments.
Montgomeryshire AM, Russell George said it was great news for the groups.
“It is positive news to see four projects in Montgomeryshire be awarded substantial grants from The National Lottery Community Fund.
"I know much hard work has gone into submitting the applications, and I would like to pass on my own thanks to the many volunteers within these organisations who have put in such effort."
He added: "I had only visited the present playground in Caersws on Sunday, and I know that the new play equipment will make a massive difference for the community.
"The Ponthafren Association do fantastic work in Newtown and Welshpool, and I’m delighted that their work will now be extended to deliver services in Llanidloes.
"Llansilin Playing Fields Association and Berriew Preschool and Toddler Group will be rightfully celebrating, as the grant funding will make a big difference."
