Welsh Government staff will not be leaving Newtown

Welsh Government staff will not be transferring from Ladywell House in Newtown to offices at County Hall in Llandrindod Wells, Powys County Council has said.

The council issued a statement yesterday saying it was entering an agreement with the Welsh Government that would see staff at the government's Llandrindod offices and some from Newtown moving to the first floor at County Hall.

However, it has now said the only staff relocating will be from the Llandrindod Wells office.

The council purchased Ladywell House last year from the Welsh Government. It is currently undertaking work to replace windows at the Newtown office and is about to re-sign a lease with the Welsh Government which has offices on the third floor. The government will be relinquishing offices it has on the ground floor.

"Welsh Government staff currently based in Newtown will not be moving to Llandrindod Wells as part of the new agreement," said a council statement.
