Farmers and landowners in the Newtown area are being urged to be vigilant following a spate of thefts in the Caersws and Welshpool areas.

Dyfed-Powys Police is appealing for information after farm vehicles were stolen.

Sometime between Sunday, 17 March and Monday, 18 March, a red R reg Landrover Freelander, silver Polaris quad bike and a blue Ivor Williams HB505 horse trailer were stolen from a farm in the Forden area, Welshpool.

A red 2018 model Honda Foreman TRX500 quad was stolen from within a farm building in the Clatter area, Caersws between Monday, 18 March and Tuesday, 19 March.

PC Charlie Jones, of the Powys Rural Crime Team, said: “We are keen to encourage members of the public to report any suspicious incidents immediately.

“Powys is a large county, and we rely on members of the public to inform us of what is happening in our area.

“Don’t hesitate to contact us – even if a report does not need an immediate response, every piece of information helps officers build up a bigger picture and could prove vital in bringing criminals to justice.”

Anyone with information about these thefts, or who would like advice on keeping equipment and vehicles secure, should call 101 and ask to speak to the Rural Crime Team.

If you see anything suspicious, report it on 101. In an emergency, or to report a crime in action, always call 999.

In light of these and other recent thefts, people are urged to:
