Plans for caravan park submitted to planners

Plans have been submitted to turn a field near Llanidloes into a caravan park.

The Evans family have submitted a planning application to place five mobile holiday cabins as well as build vehicle access, roadways, install a septic tank and all associated works at land south-east of Valley View, Oakley Park.

Architects, George and Tomos, said in their planning statement: “The proposed site is owned by the applicant and is currently used as grazing land.

“The field slopes down from the road towards the East, gradually for the first 80metres or so and then steepens down towards the stream, dropping in level by approximately 11 to 12 metres.

“This then levels off at the stream at the lower end of the field.

“Positioning cabins at the lower end means that they will be invisible from the road. There is ample space for five cabins.

“No detailed design has been developed for the cabins yet, however, they are to be fully mobile ie able to be towed to and from the site.

This is to ensure they have very little impact on its environment and have no detrimental effect on its surroundings.”

They add that planting trees would mean that the cabins would be screened from the road and “thus having little impact on the character and appearance of the local area”.

Llanidloes Without Community Council has discussed the application and given it the green light.

The council believes it would promote tourism and bring more business into the area.
